Direct sea transfers are weather-dependent. No timetable, booking or commercial pressure takes priority over safe operating conditions.

Weather & sea conditions

Conditions are reviewed with the operator before departure. A trip may be delayed, held or cancelled if conditions are unsuitable.

Captain authority

The captain has final authority on departure, delay, route changes, turnaround or cancellation.

Passenger manifest

Passenger names and essential travel information are recorded before departure.

Life-saving equipment

Partner vessels are expected to carry appropriate life jackets and route-appropriate safety equipment.

Communication

Operating boats should maintain appropriate marine and/or satellite communication for the route.

Fallback options

If a direct transfer cannot operate, available alternatives may include another departure, ferry if suitable, credit or refund under the booking policy.

Who operates the boats?

Mentawai Connect is a booking and coordination platform. We do not own or operate the vessels. Transfers are operated by independent third-party boat operators and their crews.

The assigned operator is responsible for the operation of its vessel and the operational requirements applicable to that vessel.
