Mentawai Connect was created from a simple idea: make sea transfers between Padang and the Mentawai Islands easier to organize, easier to share and more efficient for everyone involved.

Why we created it

One route. Many travelers.
Too many separate conversations.

Mentawai Connect grew naturally from years of living and working in the islands, guiding surfers and coordinating the day-to-day logistics of a locally operated surf camp.

As Mentawai locals, we understand both sides of the journey: the travelers trying to reach the islands and the local boat operators making those journeys possible.

Mentawai Connect was created to bring those connections into one place — making it easier to coordinate shared departures and use available boat capacity more efficiently.

One platform, different local boats

Mentawai Connect does not own or operate the vessels. Each transfer is operated by an independent local boat operator, while we coordinate booking and communication.

As Mentawai locals, we understand both sides of the journey: the travelers trying to reach the islands and the local boat operators making those journeys possible.

Instead of each camp, traveler and boat operator solving the same transport problem separately, Mentawai Connect creates a shared system where demand can meet available boat capacity.

The goal is simple: better-filled boats, more opportunities for local operators, and an easier way for travelers to reach Mentawai.
